These images come from a #box of #photos that Helga Voci, widow of Diego Voci, sent to us from #Germany.

One by one, members of (The Diego Voci Project) post these images on #social #media with the hope to locate the whereabouts of these #lost paintings.  With a #vacuum of no information from 1985-2007, all 4000 #oil #paintings by Diego Voci were out in the world somewhere.

Collectors who purchased from Diego before he passed away (in 1985) were enamored by the #magnetism of Diego and his works.

Today, in 2019, we have located approx. 1200 of those works.  Please help us locate the 1800 + out there in the world somewhere.  Contact us https://www.diegovociproject.com/contact

“FRIENDS” On The Wall & “FRIENDS” On The Couch

October 1972 Coops 36th Birthday

This October 1972 occasion was Coop Cooprider’s 36th birthday (on left).  The friends on the couch are Ingrid and Walter Nermerich, owners of “Alt Landstuhl Restaurant” in Landstuhl, Germany home of the famous Chateaubriand.

Friends” on the wall is an amazing work of art by internationally collected artist Antonio Diego Voci (1920-1985).  The painting was purchased from the private collection of Jawdat and Joy Naffouj, art dealers also in Alt, Landstuhl.  “Friends” has been on Coop and Patti’s walls as they moved around the world ever since.

Coopriders now own about 8 dozen or so Diego art paintings; several are earmarked for selection into a Major Museum Diego Retrospective once a generous benefactor comes forward.

Three great places to learn more about Diego:

  1. Google “Diego Voci” then click “Images

ALESSANDRA, DAUGHTER TO DIEGO VOCI, REMEMBERS

“When you cannot use words to let people know you what mean, use colors and draw a picture” words by Diego Voci

Alessandra & LADY as a puppy (2)

Alessandra and Lady (Diego’s favorite dog)

Alessandra shares… “I can remember when daddy was drawing when I was child. When daddy was working I often was at his side and watched him how a new painting was born. He was smoking his cigarettes and tell me stories. I learned a lot of different techniques on how to draw a picture. When daddy got a painting in his mind, he was in his own world. I learned a lot of what Art can be. He once said to me “when you cannot use words to let people know what you mean, use colors and draw a picture”. He was my personal philosopher, that was my childhood.”

Alessandra, adored by Diego, gave him enrichment of life, until lung cancer took him from her at her age 11.

ARTIST #DiegoVoci™ #HUMANISM RECEIVES NOTORIETY

Content below is from page 7 of the 8 page #1974 Diego Catalog by Coop Cooprider, #DiegoVoci™#Historian.

Commentary John Krueger Writer for #Stars & #Stripes Part I:

C39 Friends ca. 1966 23 23 x 47 14 #1159-68 ORIGINAL

“Antonio DIEGO Voci considers the human face to be the most direct an effective way to illustrate and to express his intimate #poetical #world.  DIEGO’S deep concern for people reveals the painter’s #humanism, his #gift for perception, his #warmth, #equilibrium and #serenity of vision which are very characteristic of the #Italian temperament.

DIEGO’s oil #portraits of young #women – with #dark melancholy eyes, sensuous lips without a smile – convey a message of noble #beauty that transcends the physical portrait and becomes the revelation of a #soul, bringing to mind the sorrowful mysticism of the Italian painters of the XVth Century.

DIEGO’s great reverence and admiration for the Italian painters of the XVth and XVIth centuries, above all #Michelangelo and #Botticelli, can be sensed in his works, which are far from being a mere imitation of the classics and could be better described as a modern interpretation of the immortal ideals which have, through the centuries, uplifted the spirit of humanity through beauty artistically expressed.

Besides oils, #DIEGO works in #charcoal, #watercolors, #ink, #tempera, and #pastels.  Sometimes he combines ink and water color in a way reminiscent of #Japanese #art.  The dark outlines enhanced by splashes of flowing color given an impression of form in movement which is exceedingly decorative.

DIEGO is a painter of uncommon versatility and prolificacy, an intellectual devoid of all intellectualisms, an intelligent interpreter of #modern art movements who possesses the moral courage to remain faithful to his own personal dreams, inflexibly rejecting all influences alien to a nature nurtured under the glorious Italian skies, by the examples of the greatest artists of all times.”
