#TRAVELS THROUGH #GERMANY

Carol Bachofner shares her internationally collected artist Diego Voci story;

“I own two original Diegos’ purchased in 1973 through Naffouj Gallery, in Landstuhl, Germany. I bought two large ones at the time at an art show through Naffouj Gallery. The exhibit was held at the “General Von Steuben” Hotel in Wiesbaden and Diego Voci (VOH-chee 1920-1985) was there in person.

I later visited Diego at his home in Germany and purchased another small watercolor painting on wood directly from him. The colorful one on wood is a village scene. The other one is of a Pueblo village in the American southwest where Diego said he’d traveled. These are original and are signed by Diego. My two large Diego paintings are with me in Maine.”

#EUROPE 1957

1957 was a very full year, just like every other year was during Diego Voci’s (VOH-chee) lifetime (1920-1985). Diego Voci invited his nephew Tony Voci to travel Europe with him while Tony was stationed in the Armed Services. Here is an excerpt of a great memory:

Tony Voci recalls “Driving with my Uncle Diego, about every hour we would stop at a café for a smoke and espresso. To my surprise, Diego was greeted as “Diego” everywhere. “Diego” was his own celebrity. Diego loved people! And he never stopped drawing, even on napkins.”

MET GETS LOAN OF DA VINCI

“For Leonardo, a painter’s most ambitious goal was to convey a composition with convincing emotion,” said exhibition curator Carmen Bambach. “Few paintings in the history of Western art can elicit such a powerful psychological reaction.” – #ARTNEWS: https://news.artnet.com/exhibitions/leonardo-st-jerome-metropolitan-museum-1594957

7 #TREASURES SAVED IN #NOTREDAME #FIRES

A picture taken on April 16, 2019 shows the altar surrounded by charred debris inside the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris in the aftermath of a fire that devastated the cathedral. – French investigators probing the devastating blaze at Notre-Dame Cathedral on April 15, 2019, questioned workers who were renovating the monument on April 16, as hundreds of millions of euros were pledged to restore the historic masterpiece. As firefighters put out the last smouldering embers, a host of French billionaires and companies stepped forward with offers of cash worth around 600 million euros ($680 million) to remake the iconic structure.
