In 1974 #DIEGO was invited to participate in the 12th Annual BENEDICTINE Art Awards in #NY (USA). #DIEGO showed no interest. The Diego Voci Historian, Coop Cooprider, offered to buy DIEGO’s creation in advance, on the condition it would be submitted to the #BENEDICTINE event. DIEGO agreed. DIEGO had complete freedom on what to paint.
This 1974 full image (30″ x 24″ sand based paint on canvas- BELOW) with the 14″ BENEDICTINE bottle shows the result as submitted to the BENEDICTINE event.

Diego Voci; “Benedictine” sand based paint on canvas #34948D 1974
Look closely at this close up (BELOW) of the 14″ BENEDICTINE bottle
Now look closely (BELOW) at the second full image 30″ x 24″ of the same painting. What happened to the BENEDICTINE bottle? It’s gone!
When DIEGO learned he did not win, he retaliated, and obliterated the BENEDICTINE bottle and its labels. Before the Diego Voci Art Historian, Coop Cooprider could pick up the paid-in-advance “BENEDICTINE” painting, DIEGO had clandestinely painted out all evidence of his disappointing BENEDICTINE experience. DIEGO transformed the BENEDICTINE bottle into a 14″ pink pitcher adding a handle (see ABOVE).
