Back in 1977, LTC. Eugene Freeman purchased this painting by Diego Voci from Diego’s studio in Germany.

That persistent urge to #draw that possessed #Diego from a young child carried into Diego’s last hours. The second weekend of December there was an open house in Diego’s home and studio; he was too weak to attend. Yet he found the strength to draw one more piece for a door prize, his last work of art for the public, a cubist, ink drawing; followed by a small pencil sketch for Helga.
Diego, who smoked 40 cigarettes a day, succumbed to lung cancer 10 December 1985.
The resting place for Diego Voci is in Neuhof, Germany. On Helga’s periodic visits she shares her thoughts with both Diego and her mother beside him.

Diego Voci; “Jeune Fille en Blanc” #641-030 oil on canvas 80x60cm
“Jeune Fille en Blanc” was purchased back in 1974 by Diego Voci Historian, Coop Cooprider in Diego’s studio when Coop was helping Diego become better known. Diego opened up his studio to visitors and many experienced first hand the “magnetism” of Diego, so captivated by his art and his persona that most walked out with a painting or two in hand. Coop was no exception.
Throughout the years, Coop and his family have traveled and moved between Europe and United States, and along the way this painting has gone missing.
This unique cubistic/surrealist art work takes on the divide between two different styles. Where is the line between the two?
