#PICASSO MEETS #ELGRECO?
In 1981, St. Albert residents, Stephen and Wendy Max presented the first Canadian showing of the work of Antonio Diego Voci. The press paid attention:
“His (DiegoVoci™) paintings have overtones of Picasso cubist style, in harmony with an esthetic clarity suggestive of #ElGreco.” Section of article “St. Albert residents host art show”
The success of “#PICASSO MEETS #ELGRECO” stemmed into the launch of Goldcrest Galleries Ltd by Stephen Max as he became Canada’s exclusive agent for DiegoVoci™ until his death in 1985.

JUMP ON BOARD THE #DIEGOVOCI™ TIME MACHINE……1981
#StephenMax, #DiegoVoci™ #Canadian Representative, staged an exhibition of #DiegoVoci™ works of art at the Griesbach Officers Club in #Edmonton. A #newspaper article captured the exhibition “#PICASSO MEETS #ELGRECO?”. After the exhibition, many conversations between Diego and Stephen Max took place and the concept of promoting Diego’s works in #Canada was formed.
The agreement came together to consign DiegoVoci™ works of art while preparations of the launch of #GoldCrest Galleries LTD was established.
Stephen Max arranged more exhibits, in Helga’s words…
“Diego and I attended exhibitions of DiegoVoci™ works of art in Canada, 1981. One was the Goldcrest Galleries Ltd., in Columbus Center Toronto. The other was the Van Zoolingen Galleries in Edmonton.”

What is an ETCHING?
Etching is traditionally the process of using strong acid or mordant to cut into the unprotected parts of a metal surface to create a design in intaglio (relief) in the metal.
What Is a LITHOGRAPH?
Most people could not afford to own an original piece of artwork by Picasso or Van Gogh, but having a copy of their masterworks wouldn’t be such a bad idea. This is where the idea of a lithograph comes into play. A lithograph is an authorized copy of an original work created by the artist himself or other skilled craftsmen. A lithograph is rarely worth more than the original artwork it reproduces, but if the print quality is excellent and the production numbers are low, it may still have significant value in the art world.
Why purchase an etching or a lithograph?

WHERE IS THE OWNER TODAY OF THIS ANTONIO VOCI?
In January 1965, DIEGO had an exhibition at the Schlossgalerie in #Zurich, #Switzerland.
Notice the reference to the name in the “Neue Züricher Zeitung” newspaper ad “Antonio Voci” not “DIEGO”.
Helga Drössler had been with DIEGO for five years. Thereafter he mostly signed“DIEGO”. Helga and DIEGO married in #Denmark in 1968.
Notice the style. #Realism. Both different from the works DIEGO Collectors are familiar with. It illustrates his #versatility and #craftsmanship (#Picasso painted realism when he first began. So did #Dali).
