#ESCAPE FROM #REALITY

There is a great beauty to be found in Diego’s subjects.

Words by Stephen Max; “Diego’s artwork reminds us of the simple human love of a mother for a child, of the nurturing gaze of all mothers, and the comfort they bring. We see the best of ourselves in them. His impossibly gorgeous execution of  Suonatrice di Linto was completed while living in Schwetzingen Germany in 1975  and his focus was upon the beauty of the human spirit.
Diego painted with immense beauty and grace, executing his work with painstaking care and attention to detail. Each of his brushstrokes was an act of love, and little by little, something breathtakingly beautiful came into formation. Overall a sense of comfort and peace soothe the onlooker liberating the stress embodied in everyday life. The beauty and tenderness of her face, that portrait of love and softness, encompasses every detail of this masterpiece.
In February 1975 we were entertained by Helga and Diego in their Schwetzingen home (near Heidelberg Germany).  After enjoying an exceptional wine, reacquainting ourselves with Helga, and meeting Diego for the first time, we observed this unfinished painting on an easel in his studio. The exceptional beauty and serenity of the painting could be easily visualized in its finished state and we simply had to have it. Following a good natured and animated dialogue, Diego agreed to complete the painting exclusively for us. We re-visited two weeks later for the purchase of this masterpiece and have enjoyed Suonatrice di Linto placed in a prominent location in our home ever since.”
The completed Masterpiece.

DIEGO VOCI “ARTIST OF A THOUSAND FACES”

Der Monch #1151-397 oil on canvas 60x70cm

“Der Mönch”, by Antonio DIEGO Voci, 70 x 60 cm, Oil on Canvas, #1151-397

Larry Martel in #Heidelberg, Germany bought “Der Mönch” on Thanksgiving Day. The monks seems to be saying to the artist, “Who is the guy, Diego? Are you sure I can trust him?” Diego’s wife Helga captured this Diego memory on canvas with her polaroid camera in 1975, since faded.

“THIS ARTIST IS A LION”

On this day, August 10, we celebrate the 98th birthday of internationally collected artist Antonio “Diego” Voci (1920-1985).

TV Guide Cover Published May 1974

I am Coop Cooprider, Diego Voci Historian. I first met Diego in late 1966. Patti and I bought our first Diego oil painting on layaway, our first of many. We were and remain addicted https://www.artifactcollectors.com/diego-history-4330818/Page7.html#98597.  In 1973-74, I volunteered for a year to help Diego become better known. One of those efforts was the 3-page biography in the May 1974 issue of the AFNTV Guide by my ghost writer Victoria Williams.

$30,000 REWARD
“The Clown” pictured above was stolen about 1980 from what was then my office in Otterbach, Germany. There is a reward of $30,000 for its return. See “The Clown” in color in the video by Stephen Max: https://youtu.be/T3ODYMxxBdc
