MADONNA AND CHILD PART #5 SIXTY YEAR OLD PAINTING by Antonio #DIEGO Voci

Below is the “Madonna and Child” rendered by Diego in 1957 for his brother Tony. Diego created a few other great oil paintings to add to Tony and Lois Voci’s Private #Collection for him  to adorn the walls of their home in Pennsylvania.

C.V. Madonna & Child

Madonna and Child” (1957 signed “D.Voci“) Oil on Board by Antonio Diego Voci (1920-1985)

1957 was a very full year, just like very other year was during Diego’s lifetime (1920-1985). Diego Voci invited his nephew Tony Voci to travel Europe with him while Tony was stationed in the Armed Services. Here is an excerpt of a great memory:

Tony Voci recalls driving with his artist Uncle and about every hour they would stop at a café for a smoke and espresso. To the surprise of Tony, Diego was greeted as “Diego” everywhere. “Diego” was his own #celebrity. Diego loved people!

MADONNA AND CHILD PART #3 Black #GOD + Persian #MARY = Mulatto #JESUS?

This is #3 in our countdown to Christmas Day featuring “Madonna and Child” portrayals by Internationally collected artist Antonio Diego Voci (1920-1985), one from 1966 and one from 1975.  Is the idea possible?

This DIEGO VOCI painting provoked 4 questions:
1. “Is God Black?”
2. “Was Mother Mary Persian?”
3. “Was Jesus Mulatto?”
4. “Does God have DNA?”

We’ll publish your comments. Email us at: diegovociproject@gmail.com.

MADONNA & CHILD PART #1 by Antonio #Diego Voci

#Internationally Collected Artist Antonio Diego Voci honored “Madonna” (The word is from Italian ma #donna, meaning “my lady“) all throughout his life as he created “My #Lady” in many of his works of art.

In the days of celebrating Christmas, we honor “Madonna and Child” as Diego honored Mother and Child in every day of his life, with his family, with every work of art he created his passion for life and joy, and giving to others with his gifts was what “Christmas is all about

FRED CURLEY KNEW #ARTIST #DIEGOVOCI™

A #DiegoVoci™ #Collector, Fred Curley, once worked for Jawdat Naffouj at the Naffouj Gallery in #Landstuhl, #Germany from 1969-71.

Naffouj Brochure Cover

The Naffouj Gallery once upon a time was the revolving door for DiegoVoci™ paintings. As Diego shipped them to Naffouj Gallery from one country to the next capturing human emotions on canvas along the way, those paintings were quickly acquired by collectors of all kinds.

Fred Curley, orchestrated exhibitions for Naffouj Gallery at most all of the #Military Officer’s clubs and Embassy’s in #Belgium.

Fred Curley was the source behind the success of sold DiegoVoci™ works that are still in the hands of the original collectors.  In Fred’s words:

“DiegoVoci™ had quite a following and everyone looked forward to my next show to see his new work. I had the fortune of personally getting to know DiegoVoci™ from working at the Gallery. I remember watching Diego paint and everyone sitting around joking drinking good wine and eating cheese.”

“I have always dreamed of opening my own Gallery when I retire and have the opportunity to offer some great works of art that I had a chance to see and enjoy as a young man. I still travel to Germany and stop in to see Jawdat Naffouj when I am there. The Naffouj Gallery is still there and Jawdat looks good and still has many DiegoVoci (graphics), Diedter Grants and also Pallucci’s in his Gallery. I, myself, own a Diego of a Madonna and Child that I personally watched him paint.”

Here is an image (above) of Jawdat Naffouj in 2012 at Naffouj Gallery.

The DiegoVoci™ Project thanks Fred Curley for sharing his own personal experience with DiegoVoci™.

How fortunate for Fred Curley to share so much time with Diego, the man.  Also to personally possess a canvas Fred watched him create, one of Diego’s estimated 4,000 oil paintings.  Are there any photos?  Please contact us at the DiegoVoci™ Project website.  We hope to receive images of your Diego works of art.

THE BEGINNING OF ADDICTION TO DIEGO VOCI ART

Patti and Coop Cooprider Madonna & Child, 1966

Patti and Coop Cooprider Madonna & Child, 1966

1966, a young married couple, Americans living in Germany, bought their first “expensive” Diego Voci painting, “Madonna and Child”.  They bought it for $150 on layaway, 3 payments. That was a big chunk of their small budget at the time.

The artist Diego Voci was represented by Joy Gibson, a Canadian art dealer operating out of Zweibrucken, partnering with Dr. Jawdat Naffouj.

The Coopriders, Coop (he’s the skinny one on the left 6’2”) and Patti just could not stop at one (The Potato Chip Phenomenon).  They knew Diego and Helga through the years buying many more Diego’s.

Coop became the volunteer Diego Voci Historian in 1973 and began the volunteer Diego Voci Project in 2010, a property of the Diego Voci Estate, and in 2011 began the official Diego Voci Archive to search for and catalog all the lost Diego oil paintings scattered around the world.  We’ve identified approximately 1,000 of 4,000 so far.

Please help us find the rest.  Email us at diegovociproject@gmail.com

“NEW GENERATION” – DISCOVERING #DIEGOVOCI GOLD – PART ONE

Proof is here. The magnetism of DIEGO VOCI art can be transferred to a “New Generation.”

Diego Voci died in 1985 of lung cancer. His great body of artwork has endured 30-50 years, largely unknown except to many of his original addicted collectors who bought many. They displayed them, enjoyed them and hoarded them for decades. Now these devoted collectors are dead, dying and or downsizing and Diego’s works are popping up everywhere at bargain prices. Keep your eyes open! diegovociproject@gmail.com

Enter Brad Fairchild, Graphic Designer and Photographer, 45 years old. His parents, Cheryl and Dan met Diego personally. On a tight budget with two little kids, they bought 3 DIEGO Lithographs in the 1970’s while in Germany. They found their first original Diego Voci oil painting in the US on e-bay:   https://diegovociproject.wordpress.com/2015/07/08/potential-diegovoci-model-kicking-herself/

Their son Brad has a sharp eye. Here is the Diego Voci masterwork, “Madonna” (31″x 16″) he discovered at an Estate Sale under $1,000. Genuine #gold leaf is inlayed, similar to the techniques used by Gustav #Klimt with the famous #WomaninGold.
