Not Diego, the Game.  Not artists, Diego Riviera or Diego Velázquez.  This is about Diego Voci!

Joy Naffouj, a Canadian Art Dealer met internationally collected artist Antonio Diego Voci (1920-1985, VOH-chee) in 1966 in Germany.  She was attracted to his strong painting style; very different from her stable of the other artists she represented. He had been signing his great body of work with some form of “Voci”. But everyone knew him as “Diego”.  Joy convinced him to sign his paintings thereafter with the “Diego” signature.

Coop Cooprider spotted “Diego’s” work at an exhibition at her studio in Ramstein, Germany.  Diego also displayed at the Restaurant La Gondola, Gigi, the owner, pictured with Diego and a Stars & Stripes reporter.

“Die Wanderer am Wegrand”; 50x60cm, #11802-113 purchased by Helga Strauss November 21, 1980 at La Gondola Restaurant in Ramstein, Germany.   Last known address for Helga Strauss is Theodor – Heuss – Allee 153, 6630 Saarlouis – Steinrausch.

Please note the yellow string was to hold the painting when this Polaroid image was taken.
