D.Voci signature Pre-1966
Diego Voci Collector Pete Paceley has just sent the Diego Voci Project 2 fresh images. He first reached out to Artifact Collectors four years ago in 2013 with:
“I have a pair of matching clown paintings (one male playing guitar, one female playing mandolin) signed D. Voci from Germany in the early to mid-1960s. Dimensions of each are approximately 10″ x 19″. The gold paint is stunning — as if the paintings glow. They were obtained through a relationship with an Italian restaurant. The owner’s name was Franco and his daughter was Daniella. Does anyone have any information on this connection?”
Helga Voci, widow of Diego, responded with:
“The Restaurant Franco I knew, the owner was Franco, he was a friend of Diego, I think the Restaurant was in Kaiserslautern or nearby possibly Baumholder, Diego always displayed paintings there, since Diego`s has passed away I have no contact to him anymore, he had a German wife and a daughter (Daniella) our daughter Alessandra`s age.”
Pete responded back to Artifact Collectors with;
“That area of Germany for the restaurants sounds close — my dad was stationed in Baumholder. I think the restaurant name was Franco’s but I’m not sure. My mom may remember so I’ll check with her. My dad bought the paintings and my mom gave them to me a few years ago. It could have been prior to 1965, we were in Baumholder 1962-1967. Speaking with my mom, she remembered meeting Diego and his wife at Franco’s restaurant. She described Diego as very pleasant and friendly.”
