Rest In Peace Lee (Voci) Iatesta

Diego’s niece, Lee, passed away at the age of 85 last Sunday in her home in Broomall, Pennsylvania. Lee, of all Diego’s relatives, was the most like her wandering artist Uncle. A gifted painter and sculptor in her own right, Lee inherited the genes of the artist. Lee entered a class of over 100 women at Immaculata College in 1949 and was one of only 32 to graduate in a time when few women went to college and most left before graduating to get married and start a family. Lee taught French, raised two wonderful daughters and inspired her children to explore the world.

The post below tells the story of Lee and Diego meeting for the fist time in Europe. Her sculpture of the mother and child was typical of her figurative work. One can see the brushstrokes of Diego in the shapes Lee created.

We remember Lee this Christmas Day and know that she is with her Uncle Diego in Heaven.
