#EUROPE 1957

1957 was a very full year, just like every other year was during Diego Voci’s (VOH-chee) lifetime (1920-1985). Diego Voci invited his nephew Tony Voci to travel Europe with him while Tony was stationed in the Armed Services. Here is an excerpt of a great memory:

Tony Voci recalls “Driving with my Uncle Diego, about every hour we would stop at a café for a smoke and espresso. To my surprise, Diego was greeted as “Diego” everywhere. “Diego” was his own celebrity. Diego loved people! And he never stopped drawing, even on napkins.”

#DIEGOVOCI BRINGS OWN RED CARPET TO CRASH PARTY

Mario Voci, nephew to Diego Voci, recalls a moment in DIEGO’s life, where the flair of his character shines through:

Red Carpet with Chauffeur 20 AUG 2015

Here is the story of uncle Diego and the Red Carpet:

Diego knew of this meeting of #influential people where he wanted to be to talk to a couple of persons he was interested in. But, the meeting was #invitation only and my uncle obviously didn’t have one.

So Diego hired a #limousine and chauffeur complete with red carpet with the plan to get in without an invitation.

At the right time the limousine slowly drove in front on the entrance of the building, the chauffeur got out of the car and immediately spread a #red carpet for my uncle Diego to walk on from the car right to the entrance with all the people making room for this very important #celebrity whom they greeted with admiration even if they had no idea who this person was.

He had no trouble getting into the function.

A classic example of uncle Diego’s cheek and class.”

WE ARE ON OUR WAY TO MAKING #DIEGO VOCI ( VOH-chee) … A #CELEBRITY!

DIEGO Dancing in Front of Fireplace he Sculpted FOR BLOG 2 DEC 2014

The world is infatuated with #celebrities.

But, don’t tell #DIEGO, we’re making him a #celebrity.  Diego said,

You want to make me something in the sky with wings…go ahead.

You want to make me famous…go ahead.  But, this is  not my life.” -1974

#Vincent_Van_Gogh whose works were rejected during the #artist’s troubled lifetime would have gladly traded places with Antonio DIEGO Voci who in his lifetime (1920 – 1985) sold thousands of #paintings.

In 1973, Siegfried Dahms owner of #Galerie Dahms on the prestigious #Wilhelmsstrasse in #Wiesbaden said,

We cannot get enough DIEGOs for our collectors.

He is exactly the taste

of the #German people.”

#Diego died at home December 10, 1985. Diego’s studio/residence was nearby to Galerie Dahms in Taunusstein where his widow #Helga #Voci still lives today.
