Does Mr. Keener still own this painting? Based on the information provided by Helga Voci, widow of Diego Voci (1920-1985), this painting was purchased at an auction back in 1977.

Artist Diego Voci was a Man of the People

Helga Voci, Diego’s lover, wife and confidant from 1960 until his death from lung cancer (chain smoker), wrote in her biography, her memory;

“Diego played cards with the Fishermen”

Le Cirque 70 x 80cm Du Boise

The Diego Voci Project shares Diego’s portrayal of this dream he had as a member of the circus (in this faded Polaroid image of Le Cirque) .  How many figures can you count?  Did you see the large banana shaped smiling face in the left hand corner?  Which figure do you think is Diego?

Die Bauerinnen 50 x 70cm Frances Ann Jacobini

On August 8, 1980, Frances Ann Jacobini purchased this attractive Diego Voci (VOH-chee) painting direct from the home / studio of Helga and Diego.  This image is from a 37 year old Polaroid Helga found.  The card indicates Francis paid $950.  It is title “Die Baüerinnen”.  Coop Cooprider, the Diego Voci Historian since 1973 said “If these are farm girls, they come from classier farms than any I have seen.  It looks like are dressed for a Vogue photoshoot.”
