#ONE #GERMAN #PAINTING #TAUGHT ME HOW TO #VISIT A #MUSEUM

What One Mysterious, Easily Overlooked German Painting Taught Me About How to Visit a Museum in the Age of Blockbusters A Marauder stands for the best-case fate for the typical piece of art in a museum—which then also makes it stand for the typical condition of “Art” when you strip away the myth of its transparent timelessness. That fate is not to vanish. It endures. But it’s also not to inspire lasting ecstasies of interpretation or to summon crowds. Instead, it is to be present but not present, lurking in the shadows, waiting for the moment when it might actually be seen and known.

A TWO-FOLD MYSTERY PAINTING FROM THE MASTER OF SURREAL!

Diego Voci Painting

Diego Voci; Unknown Title; oil on canvas, signed “Diego”

We know nothing about this painting by the internationally collected artist Antonio Diego Voci (VOH-chee 1920-1985). Not its size. Not is age. Not its whereabouts. All we have is a scanned image from a single sheet of glossy professional print paper. Logically it was for a printing project.

We reached out to Helga Voci, widow of Diego Voci, and she does not recall the specifics of this particular Diego Voci painting.

The two-fold mystery is the missing painting and the mystery within the painting itself.

The juxtaposition of “objects, shapes and figures” creates imagery that holds several stories within. Significance of the “Dove” in Diego’s works, what did this represent? “The spirit of child” often was a focal point for Diego; just as Alessandra, Diego’s daughter was the center of his love.

$20,000 REWARD for this stolen masterwork by internationally collected artist Antonio DIEGO VOCI (VOH-chee) 1920-1985!

In 1973 Dr. Ogden Brown, an addicted Diego Voci collector, obtained the phenomenal “NUDE IN YELLOW” 48″ x 36″ directly from Diego Voci.  About 1974, this marvelous painting strangely disappeared in a move of the Brown family from one home to another in Colorado. They saw “NUDE IN YELLOW” go into the moving truck. The painting was missing when the truck was unloaded and hasn’t been seen since.
