“#WHERE DOES #DIEGO GET HIS #IDEAS FOR #PAINTINGS?”

Words above by Cindy and Norm Ferland

Diego Voci; “Gypsy Girl” oil on canvas 1969 #1644-9
Diego Voci; “Composition” oil on canvas 1971 #1297-9

Cindy and Norm Ferland share with the Diego Voci Project Team two of their three works by internationally collected artist Antonio Diego Voci (VOH-chee) 1920-1985.

“We talked about where he (Diego) gets his ideas for paintings. He (Diego) told me that he sees a person and maybe weeks or a month later he will paint that person in his interpretation. Also we talked about the still life he painted because I had one of those and he (Diego) said he had seen a pot of flowers and he just thought he would try to paint it.” – Norm Ferland

Diego Voci, Artist of a Thousand Faces:

A #MEMORY OF #JFK & #ARTIST DIEGO VOCI

Margaret Carrow shares memories of her Aunt’s memories of how she collected her two internationally collected artist Diego Voci (VOH-chee 1920-1985) paintings.

Margaret shares;

My Aunt lived most of her life in Europe working for the Air Force as an administrator of the Air Force schools, in Germany, France and Spain. She is 93 (in 2012) years old and I have moved her back to the states,along with her personal possessions including two of her paintings.She talked about the artist she knew while she was in Germany. The two oil paintings by Diego are signed on the front and the back. I have taken pictures of them and have included them with this letter. One of the paintings needs some repairs, and I didn’t know how I should have this done. My Aunt is living in a retirement home, and wanted her paintings to be with her. She told me that Diego was working on a painting for President Kennedy when she first met Diego.”

#DIEGO VOCI HAS INLUENCED OTHER #ARTISTS

One of the artists, Christa Volkert-Vogel in Germany who met Diego several times on Diego’s travels to the #Schwarzwald (Black Forest) area, in this case #Offenburg. She not only loved Diego’s master artistry, Christa says “he greatly affected my art.” Christa purchased 5 DIEGO artworks, “La Lettura per il Teatro” (Reading for the Theatre), which she acquired on October 26, 1980, is shown here:

#DIEGO VOCI “La Lettura per il Teatro” (80x70cm, Oil on Canvas, 9802-100)

Christa remembers, “In my youth I had courses at the “Painters Vocational School” in Lahr, with several regional artists including Diego Voci, an internationally known artist and compelling contemporary painter. Thus a sound foundation was created that would help me in my future endeavors. After many years of  making it my hobby, I studied art in 1998 at the Academy of Fine Arts in LahrYears later I also taught there.”

Christa also recalls one day that Diego was drawing several flower-themed artworks and says her own renderings were highly influenced from that one day forward!
