Clowns paint their faces to mask the truth of who they are. Note the hand of the clown laying on part of the clown’s neck. There is thought that placing your hand to the part of their neck and cover it when one feels insecure, uncomfortable, or anxious.

Another Diego Voci clown is painted actually gazing introspectively in the mirror.  This clown is in the collection of Marsha Largent Piper.

The not-for-profit Diego Voci Project is searching for the lost paintings of internationally collected artist Antonio Diego Voci (1920-1985).  This is only one of couple thousand “Diegos’” to be found.  It was purchased by Eugene Alfaro April 4, 1977.

Our long term goal is a major museum exhibition.  Thus we have a “Buy or Borrow” program for the best of the best.  As the original collectors have passed on, Diego art pieces have shown up everywhere from Belgium to Lithuania, from a garage sale to under somebody’s bed.  Here is a terrific find that was purchased for 97¢!  https://www.artifactcollectors.com/diego-voci-painting-of-the-week-5154118/Page4.html#62739

ANOTHER DIEGO #ARTWORK FOUND

BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR “DIEGO VOCI” PAINTINGS. THEY ARE TURNING UP EVERYWHERE. BE APART OF THE NEW GENERATION

Mike Stewart recently acquired this “DIEGO” painting at an estate sale. Mike had not heard of “Diego” before he had seen this painting. Mike was drawn to the eyes in the painting, he said they looked like “#Modigliani” eyes and thought the painting was “well done”.

Mike searched Google for any information on “Diego” and found an example of a clown / harlequin and connected what he found to Diego Voci. There upon found a plethora of information on Diego Voci on Google. He didn’t know what an important man Diego was until he started reading Diego Voci Wikipedia, the Diego Voci threads on Artifact Collectors and the Diego Voci website.

This is an example of the NEW GENERATION DIEGO COLLECTORS.

Diego1The painting with frame is 27″ x 20 ½”, tempera and pastel with the use of sand for added texture on paper board. The mat is new.

The painting is for sale for $675 “as is”. View original posting: http://www.artifactcollectors.com/diego-voci-painting- of-the-week-5154118/Page8.html#227
