#YUL #BRYNNER WARNED “DON’T SMOKE”. DIEGO DID NOT LISTEN.

Yul #Brynner’s video message did not get  to DIEGO in time:

Yul Brynner died of lung cancer just 2 months before Diego passed away on the 10th of December that same year in 1985.  Once he knew he was at the end of his life Yul Brynner wanted History to record him on camera these words in person to be seen and heard:

 “Now that I’m gone, I tell you: Don’t smoke, whatever you do, just don’t smoke.”

Internationally collected Italian #artist Antonio DIEGO Voci, born on December 10, 2018 loved smoking his 2 packs of cigarettes throughout the day, whether work or play. He lived to have a smoke and an espressso. What would he say now?

Today, in 1985 Diego Voci died. Internationally collected #artist Antonio Diego Voci, born August 10, 1920 in the little village of #Gasperina, #Italy, succumbed to lung cancer.

DIEGO VOCI’s LAST HOURS

All of the fierce pain from cancer metastasizing and sapping what was left of his strength, #DIEGO could not stop drawing. Drawing was as important to Diego as breathing.

“Diego drew every waking minute”, said Tony Voci, nephew, of his 1957 trip in #Europe with his art compelled uncle Diego.

So weak he could barely hold the pencil in his last hours, this is his final artistic expression. A small sketch that Helga Voci treasures as much as her husband’s best #masterpieces.
