NOT A DIEGO?
This entry is an open letter in response to a post #439 on Artifact Collectors to Veleno45. http://www.artifactcollectors.com/diego-voci-antonio-diego-voci-3984818/Page15.html#439
The persons familiar with the broad versatility of Diego Voci, are unanimous that the painting above is NOT his artwork. As you know before we closed the door on our decision, we awaited the vote of Diego’s widow Helga in Taunusstein, Germany. She was with Diego as he painted and drew for 25 years.
She wrote: “The painting above is , for sure, not a Diego, he never painted this kind of landscapes and the signature is no Diego either, sorry! Best wishes Helga”
First clue was the strokes. Second the subject. Third the signature. (Notice the letter “I” has legs).
There is however, one thing that could possibly reopen the door for reconsideration; and that is an image of the back of the painting which we neglected to request. Please send us an image of the back of your painting. We will need to see any writing on the back to completely confirm the authentication.
There are samples of Diego signatures on the Wikipedia Gallery; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonio_Diego_Voci#Gallery
